From our very first festival until today, Southside Back in the Day is all about the community.
Southside Back in the Day (SSBITD) is a one-day, multi-faceted community festival held annually on Labor Day weekend at Phelps Park in South Minneapolis.
What began 16 years ago as a backyard reunion among friends in Phillip Crawford's backyard has become a beloved community tradition.
In addition to Phillip and his sister Lisa Crawford, Tony Price, Tiffany Price, Delores Price, Paul McDavid, and Bobby Tims have also helped to launch the yearly event.
Today, the event brings together over 1,000 residents, families, local businesses, and organizations for a celebration that blends music, arts, food, sports, and wellness.
At its core, SSBITD is focused on accessibility, inclusivity, and deep community involvement. With strong leadership and trusted partnerships, the festival honors the past, celebrates the present, and inspires a vibrant future for the Southside community.
